The two men together in Life and after in Memorial
These two men were bigger than life itself. Faithful and peaceful souls with the courage that only comes from true compassion for mankind, humankind without the stain of the color of their skin but rather the “Content of their Character”.
Both men were assassinated. The world of politics then and now would not allow this kind of honesty and truth to exist in a culture of corruption. If you watched the historical speech on the eve of MLK’s assassination by RFK in Indianapolis, IN, you know how similar both men were at peaceful and calm demeanor with uncommon courage.
That night blacks and whites went home from RFK’s calming speech while many other cities erupted in riots at the news of MLK’s death.
The difference in reaction to the news was because of the sincere heartfelt words of RFK amidst a potential sea of trouble from the thousands of blacks and whites present to support the man who was running for the presidency. Witnesses were shaken but not stirred to violence. Participants said there were armed troublemakers in the crowd but left impotent as they were surrounded by throngs of peaceful rally attenders to hear RFK’s intended speech on the campaign trail. As we know RFK was assassinated shortly after in Los Angeles.
The all-too-common political characters in leadership today are a disgrace when you consider these two men. One question of the presenters of this historical tribute to the two men was “what if they had both lived?” How different would things be today? Of course, we can’t know but, in our hearts, we know good men like this do make a difference in all our lives. Watch this bit of history.
